What a great find in Lewiston! I had a BLT - so much bacon - and my friend ordered a bacon burger. Great staff, the owners made us feel extremely welcome, food arrived quickly, and was delicious. We sat at the bar and they were very generous with beer tastings. Would definitely go back!
Food was real delicious. Small menu.
The food was amazing my waitress was so fun. First time last night. Comedy show never stopped laughing. I will be back for sure ☆☆☆☆☆
We went at 9am for breakfast and left after 3pm. The food was amazingly good and plentiful. The staff was very friendly and made great suggestions regarding food and drinks. Clearly the staff did not rush us yet very attentive. I would highly recommend House of Bacon. We will certainly be back.
Awesome as always Marcus
Love House Of Bacon!! Food and drinks are awesome, great service too
My BLT could have had more bacon on it.
I love this place ,sad its closeing there doors as for this is there last week end open.
Over all a fun time. One of the owners came over and chatted with us. It was great fun. Food and drinks were good. Prices were comparable to other restaurants in the area. Over all fun experience.
I rarely say this.....but this place was a real 5 stars. Food was perfect..wait staff were amazing. Then the after dinner comedy show was hilarious.
Needs a kids menu but the food is excellent.
This locally owned gem is sure to please. You will find Large flavor in a small atmosphere. If you love bacon and good food, you should make it a priority to get here. You can often times find entertainment on weekends including musicians, comedians and even games.
We went to the "Let's Make A Deal" night and had a blast. Marcus did a great job and the service was great.
Great service, generous portions and fair pricing. The perfect fresh berries were especially impressive. Varied menu allowed us to meet each of our preferences and dietary requirements. Very casual and somewhat cluttered. Cleaning in the kitchen with caustic chemicals even with the kitchen closed was overwhelming in the dining room.
I'm visiting from out of town for business. Customer service was awesome. Good place to chill out on the weekend. The drinks were really good. I ordered a Strawberry Russian Mule and I had the chicken and waffles and the bacon wrapped jalapenos. The food was interestingly different, and not really my thing.. The food was really packed with flavor, but it was just a bit overwhelming for me. But I'm sure others may like it.. Not to mention it was really dark, I couldnt tell what was on my plate or what I was eating... For this to be my first time I really wish I could get a better look at what I was eating. I had to continually use my phone to see what I was eating. The atmosphere was really nice though. They did a nice job with interacting with the crowd to play games, and there was a scheduled comedian that night as well. I'd definitely go again but maybe stick to the drinks..
Great food. Waitress was awesome. Next time I'm in Maine i will definitely come here again.
It feels like grandma's place without the love. The place gave the heebie jeebies. Between the cups they serve "didn't even get a straw for water while everyone who pays for a drink gets one* the tables look like they'll give you splinters. It's like they consider themselves a five star restaurant with literally no price tag on anything. Even when they serve entertainment, the music from the radio is more enjoyable. So if you have a good portion of spending money it's an ok place to go to eat "fancy" food
Came here for the first time and it reminded me a lot of lava. Dark, dingy, dusty. I see the potential, but the lack of attention to the dust on the fixtures and dirty tables turned me off immediately. They specialize in a bloody mary bar that was not stocked and just looked like there was no pride in it. Almost like the ingredients sat out for the night. Food was ehhh... I had to tear apart the bacon to get around the grisly bits and skipped the bread all around on my BLT. Again, I see the potential and the vision for this place. I don't think I'll come back but it was worth trying out. I really do wish the best for this business!
Wow! A new gem in Auburn. Classy tapas, bluegrass on the radio, great selection of local beers. Great service too!
At a glance, it looked as though we were heading into a bacon adventure that would dazzle me with all the salty, savory wonders bacon can offer. Unfortunately what we were served was an underwhelming and poorly constructed assortment of bacon catastrophes. The only saving grace for this restaurant was the friendly wait staff.Sincerely,Disappointed
This is a fun place to eat. We came for the comedy show. All three comedian we're pretty funny. I take one star for never getting a table with reservations. We ended up at the bar. Not ideal for a party of 4. I had jalapeno wrapped bacon. It was hot and tasty. I think they could use a lager on tap.
If there were more than 5 stars I would give it 7. I had a truly amazing experience the show the atmosphere the service it was all phenomenal
the food was ok. They were out of alot of things. The comedy show started out blaa and got really good. Laughed my butt off.
My wife and I went in for the comedy show. We started with dinner. She had a BLT Burger. I had the Meatloaf. Both were extremely well put together in an eye pleasing manner. The flavors were well balanced and bold. We also ordered bacon wrapped pineapple bites as an appetizer. They were absolute perfection. The wait staff were prompt, polite, and attentive. The beverage menu is extensive and the beers are cold. The music was acoustic bluegrass covers of modern hits. After a great dinner we watched a great comedy show. Thanks House of Bacon!
Burger was a frozen patty and small, Brioche bun was cold should be toasted no dill pickle not nearly as much bacon as photos, and fries were not hand cut!!!!! Very disappointed. On a good note Server was wonderful!!!
A terrible idea executed even worse with prices so bad it's like a bad joke. "Flavored Bacon" is just regular bacon with a store bought sauce drizzled over it. "Eggs Bennidict" was drowning in a disgusting "sauce" that didn't have a single ingredient that would be in holidays sauce. It also needed to be sent back for runny egg whites and came back with more runny egg whites. They only comped half the dish after sending it back for a second time. The scrambled eggs were pale for some reason and the potatoes were disgusting. Staff was friendly. Premium quality prices on cheap ingredient prepared terrible made for an unbelievably awful experience.
A surprise showing of culinary initiative in Auburn, Maine. Located across the street from Gritty's in Auburn, the building occupied by House of Bacon has seen several short and long-lived businesses inhabit it. House of Bacon seems like it will definitely last a while. When I was there, I enjoyed a plate of chicken and waffles. Aside from the chicken having too much breading, there was plenty of food for the price and the food itself was delicious. However, parking is sometimes hard to come by unless you park in the nearby garage.Being the House of Bacon, the gimmick is that you can add bacon to any dish for an upcharge - but also, you can get any of their 30+ types of bacon. I tried the chocolate - which was two large strips of bacon drizzled with a Nutella-type chocolate. Give this place a shot, as innovative ideas are hard to come by for dining in Lewiston/Auburn.
Great burgers, and friends say other items on menu great too! When I was there it was moderately busy and just one waitress, she did fine but there should have been two wait staff on.
The food was AMAZING!! the service was great and the atmosphere was subtle and relaxing. If you've never been you need to, we'll absolutely be going back!! Thank you Marcus and Joe you're doing fantastic
We had dinner a couple of weeks ago and the service was great and the food was delicious! I had the bowtie pasta with steak and my wife had scallops wrap in bacon salad. We'll be going back real soon.
Me and a couple friends went to the comedy show on a friday night.. the comedians were very good i thoroughly enjoyed the laughter. On top of that i got a burger that was fantastic and the wait staff was pretty decent and attentive as well.. it was also nice to see the owner walking around shaking hands of customers and making sure his establishment was running up to par. This was an epic burger!! Gotta try it!
Fiance took me for my birthday. We went with a group of friends and we all had a blast. Ill never forget the time we had
This place is Fabulous, ambiance and food I LOVE IT!!!Plus it is linked to Lava....
A friend and I stopped in on Saturday morning. I have been wanting to try the place out for quite some time. I got the sampler; which included 5 different types of spiced bacon (2 strips each) and it was amazing. I especially liked the spicy ghost pepper bacon. Noah was our server, his service and knowledge of the food was excellent. I really enjoyed our experience here and will be returning for sure!
Lemme tell you about the House of Bacon: stumbled upon it while away for the weekend visiting Auburn. We went in for dinner and tried the seafood chowder and the bacon wrapped pineapple. The season had generous pieces of lobster, scallops, and shrimp in it though the broth was a little thin for my taste. The pineapple was amazing. They've got comedy on some Saturday nightsand we lucked out that we got to catch a show. Everything was so great we came back the next morning for brunch. The build your own bloody Mary bar was by far the best I've ever had!! Absolutely would go back to the House of Bacon. Next time I'm definitely gonna get that bacon burger 😍
The service was not great. They had the wait staff working between both Lava and House of Bacon, trying to manage two different menus. Wings were soggy, especially since we requested them to be cooked crispy, fries were frozen, not hand-cut as stated on the menu...home fries seemed like they were left over from brunch and cold when served, and chicken and waffles were very soggy with too much jam. Sadly a dissapointment; such a great idea just poorly executed.
This was our first time to House of Bacon and it was on a Sunday morning for their brunch. Hostess greeted us quickly and was agreeable to put two tables together for our party of 5. It was busy so we expected the service to reflect that and it did. However, our waitress was friendly and did check on us as often as she could. I do not know what took so long for our food but it was busy so maybe the kitchen was overwhelmed. Once our meals finally came out (not at all around the same time) we had to flag down our waitress as their were no napkins or silverware on the table. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal and the portions were generous. The menu was definitely interesting so this place might be worth another try just for that reason.
This was a very nice place to eat. You have the option to eat outside or inside and the staff are all very very friendly! I do not think I could ever go back again though. The food was not the best.. If you are an extreme bacon lover this place is for you 100% But I would never pay the price I paid again for the quality of food. The food did not come out in a good amount of time and the food was cold once served to my table.
Went for my birthday and the food and the comedy show was amazing. I was disappointed with the bar being out of everything, no beer on tap, wine being out, vodka out, desserts out. Not sure how this happened on a Saturday night ...kinda disappointed. But will be back because I know this place is great, just hope tonight is not the norm.
Love the place, and the owner Marcus and his staff
If you never been to the house of Bacon you are missing out. The house of Bacon is a great place to bring friends, family, or even your boss. This place is off the chain. Very clean, really nice polite workers. Come on down today. All are welcome. Happy 2019 see you around!
🥓, need I say more? Good atmosphere, management is fantastic, food is great. Took a couple attempts to get our beverages.
We won tickets to let's make a deal and had a great time!
Lots of bacon dishes, you can't go wrong! The burger was cooked perfectly, the bacon jam on the chicken and waffles is delicious, fluffy waffle, the "meatloaf" are actually 2 of the biggest meatballs. Bacon wrapped onion rings we're not crispy, but I will try them again.... all very tasty. Wait staff are dressed in 40's-50's themed dresses. Oh yeah...secret entrance to the Lava room is a neat idea! AC...not sure...it was pretty warm inside. Great sidewalk seating...expect loud street noise....it is a city.
Stopped in for lunch with a friend and we both were pleasantly surprised. The truth is, this place rocks!!! Great food, fun atmosphere even if few are dining and a relaxed setting. I ordered a burger with bacon and it was LOADED with bacon; a bacon lover's paradise. (Be sure to check out my photos for a shot of the bacon burger.) The accompanying french fries were good as well. And yes, there was plenty of tasty hamburger on the sandwich. My friend went simple; two eggs over easy with BACON!!! (Again, check the photos for a shot of this plate.) Once again the serving of bacon was VERY generous and unlike many restaurants, the House Of Bacon serves delicious, high-end bacon!!!
Our waitress was an absolute delight, went above & beyond explaining that were some specials going on, telling my boyfriend & I if we had any questions to just ask, and also pointing out their 13 flavors of bacon written right above their bar! The atmosphere was so refreshing from normal restaurants I've been too. They have amazing food where Ivzt8gkll requested my burger rare, and usually other restaurants either can't do that, or when they attempt to, they fail nevertheless. However, when I ordered my burger rare, it came out looking like I had just personally cooked it to the rareness myself. The owners though!! Marcus & Joe are just perfection. They're always smiling, and working like busy bees! Also, I'd just like to add that if there is ANYTHING wrong with your meal, please please PLEASE bring it to the attention of either JOE or MARCUS. They will usually be very gracious & solve the problem(s).
Great atmosphere. I've been here for breakfast and for a snack. Menu is small, but the quality and creativity of the food more than makes up for it. Who knew you could do so much with delicious bacon. Full, build your own, Bloody Mary station on the weekend. Decent selection of craft beer and a full bar. Definitely worth checking out.
If you are in the Auburn area and you like bacon, you are doing yourself a disservice if you do not stop here. We ordered 4 apps and 2 entrees and were not disappointed. We cannot wait to come back for the 15 different bacon flavors served at brunch!!!
I'm absolutely Blown Away with the million and one flavor possibilities that these guys have discovered using the simplest of pork products. The stand up comedy nights are pretty fun too. And don't even get me started on the atmosphere. Pleasant, friendly, the entire staff dressed in costume who clearly enjoy their work, which is rare for any restaurant. I love everything about this place.
